I have cleared other codes caused by clogged cats. The engine runs great. However, I'm left with P0113, and after cleaning the IAT sensor with plastic-safe CRC MAFS cleaner and resetting the codes, it reappears. So I thought easy enough to replace the sensor with new, but herein lies my question. My car has an automatic transmission. The sensor and location are different for the manual transmission model: manual trans cars have a "straight" elongated sensor and connector in the airbox. Auto trans models have a flatter sensor in the top of the manifold with a connector at a 90 degree angle. I have not been able to find a replacement for the automatic transmission model. There are a lot of these cars that have automatics, and I wonder why there are no sensors available... Even the OEM site doesn't list a different sensor.

  1. Is it worth the cost to replace at full retail, just to see if this is the problem? Shopping online I find the cost of the sensor (the straight one) is a huge savings compared to the retail cost at the Subaru parts counter.

  2. My real question is: Has the sensor with the angled connector for the auto trans model been superseded/replaced by the sensor for the manual transmission model with a straight connector, requiring me to move my plug's harness, etc? Is that the only difference between the two?

P0113 Intake air temperature sensor circuit high input

The Manual transmission is part of the air cleaner box which you are correct, The Automatic temperature sensor is at the intake manifold,When you have this code, it may not even need the sensor (which is very costly) check the connection

Here is a intake air temperature sensor is disconnected and has P0113, the live data show the IAT at -30 degree F.

The cause of this code was a spreaded out terminal, I was able to resize the terminal using pick so it can make proer contact, You might just be able to do just that also, it may not be a terminal issue that you have so check the harness also
